In a rare decision, Harton Coaches ceased operating from the 13 July after its licence was revoked on the same day as the Public Inquiry (PI).
At the PI, it was found that there had been a lack of adherence to timetable requirements, drivers’ hours and record requirements. Furthermore, no Transport Manager was in place at the time of the PI.
Traffic Commissioner (TC) Nick Jones made the decision to immediately revoke the licence, after accepting the findings of those present. Despite ongoing school contracts, the TC stated that due to significant road safety issues, the safety of the public and schoolchildren took precedence over running a registered service.
