One of nine routes operated by Sherburn-in-Elmet based Utopia Coaches has been left without buses, after North Yorkshire County Council failed to find an alternative operator.
The firm, which ran 10 buses, suddenly stopped trading on 23 August and entered liquidation.
Utopia’s commercial Cawood Swing Bridge replacement service across the River Ouse had no financial support from the council, and no operators have come forward.
Of its other routes, five were schools only (now taken on by York Pullman, Connexions and Stringers Coaches), while its Selby-Drax, Tadcaster-York and Sherburn-Tadcaster routes have been awarded on an emergency basis to Yorkshire Coastliner, York Pullman, and Connexions (Harrogate Coach Travel) respectively.
