The Department for Transport (DfT) has published its Inclusive Transport Strategy, which sets out how it is helping to make transport fully accessible for all passengers by 2030.
Notably, the strategy includes £2m of funding for audio and visual equipment on buses, so passengers on almost every bus will know where and when to alight.
It also raises awareness and enforcement of passengers’ rights – coach operators are reminded that wheelchair users must be able to use a wheelchair space if it is available.
“We will not hesitate in taking action against any company that breaks the law and refuses,” says the DVSA.
