Municipally-owned Blackpool Transport will place 18 Alexander Dennis Enviro200s into service next week as it pursues a £22m plan to revitalise its 140-strong fleet.
Like the 55 Enviro400 City double-deckers than have preceded them, the Enviro200s are to a high specification. The 9.7m, 34-seaters have USB charging points, wi-fi, audio visual next stop announcements, e-leather seats with individual stop buttons and infotainment screens.
Says MD Jane Cole: “These new single-deckers mark another stage in our journey towards a completely revamped fleet. Our aim is to make the customer experience second-to-none, both for locals and the visitors who form part of the 15m people we carry every year.”
Adds James Carney, Financial and Commercial Director: “We are striving to deliver and ambitious business plan that fulfils our shareholder’s strategy to have a world-class public transport system that is multimodal, modern and efficient.”
