Operator CT4N, part of Nottingham Community Transport, has stepped in to save Nottingham’s route 18 (Stapleford-Beeston-Rylands-QMC-city centre) that is being withdrawn by TrentBarton next month.
It will be the company’s first commercial service and the company is “committed to its long-term success, ” but will not replace the evening service.
With no alternative public transport in the Melbourne Road area of Stapleford and Beeston Rylands, residents would have been without buses.
CT4N MD, Ian Combellack says: “Our new service aims to maintain these links, especially for people who rely on public transport to go to work, shopping and leisure activities.”
As part of Nottingham Community Transport, CT4N already operates a number of contracted services including Medilink, Centrelink, Ecolink and all Locallink services.
The half-hourly/hourly timetable will remain largely unchanged and fares will be “similar”.
