The final part of Trentbarton’s 2017 investment has entered service on its Allestree route. The five ADL Enviro200 MMCs have stop/start technology – a first for Trentbarton – to help Derby achieve its targets as one of five Clean Air Cities.
The new buses exceed the requirements for Derby’s 2020 Clean Air Zone.
They also have LED lighting, visual and audio next-stop announcements, plus USB ports at every seat.
Trentbarton MD Jeff Counsell says: “These new buses are also bigger than the ones they are replacing and we’ve spared no expensive, with more comfy seats, extra legroom and three large skylights to give customers an unrivalled experience.”
The new buses linking Derby city centre, the University of Derby and Allestree are part of Trentbarton’s £5m investment in 2017 on new vehicles and upgrades – its biggest ever investment in a single year.
It follows 22 new buses in 2016 on the Mickleover and the nines routes, and nine new coaches in 2015 for Red Arrow.
