Debut StreetDecks enter service

Go-Ahead subsidiary Brighton & Hove, which has become the first operator to take delivery of production StreetDeck integral double-deckers from Wrightbus, has now put its initial examples into service.

It has ordered 24 buses, at the 11.5m length, seating 81. Having received the first vehicles last month, it has applied branding and they are now trickling into service.

They carry a special green and blue livery for Coaster service 12 between Brighton and Eastbourne.

The interior specification includes high-backed seats, free Wi-Fi, USB charge points, real-time tracking and next stop announcements.

The Daimler-engined integral buses have the narrow top-deck windows, similar to Wrightbus’ New Routemasters, and an angular look, replacing the former Gemini ‘smiley’ front. As part of their introduction, Brighton & Hove invited entries from the public into a competition to name the StreetDecks on the route after local people.
