South Yorkshire has extended its concessionary travel scheme for young people.
From 1 July all 16-18-year-olds in South Yorkshire, including those in work and apprenticeships, will be able to apply for a 16-18 Travel Pass for discounted travel on buses, trains and trams. Previously the pass was only valid for students.
For the first time the pass will also be valid in August, allowing year-round discounts.
It comes after South Yorkshire PTE (SYPTE)’s proposals to extend the current 16-18 Travel Pass were approved by the Sheffield City Region Combined Authority Transport Committee.
