Wrightbus used a visit by Transport Secretary Chris Grayling to three business in the province, to brief him on low emission buses. He was accompanied by North Antrim MP Ian Paisley Jnr.
Wrights Group Chairman and CEO Mark Nodder said: “At a time when manufacturing in Northern Ireland has come under significant pressure, it is good to have the support and encouragement of the Transport Secretary.”
After a tour of Wrightbus factory, Mr Grayling met Wrightbus founder William Wright who explained the technology behind Wrightbus hydrogen-powered double decker.
At its low-key unveiling in London in November 2016, Wrights said that the hydrogen fuel cell driveline will “rapidly become available” for single- and double-deckers as it becomes “fully production-ready next year (2017).” The bus has yet to start operator trials and Wrightbus has declined to comment on the project’s current progress.
