Meet Dave and Emma, the voices of Mainline.
They’re the joint winners of a quest to find two local voices to become a familiar sound for thousands of Lancashire bus passengers travelling every day on the county’s newest bus network.
Parent company Transdev is investing £4.5m in a fleet of 30 top-of-the-range new buses for its Mainline network in and around Burnley – the firm’s biggest ever investment in Lancashire.
And to give the new buses a distinctly local flavour, local radio DJ Dave Metcalfe and East Lancashire schoolgirl Emma Taylor have been chosen to become the voices announcing stops along the route on the new buses which launched on Sunday (23 July).
The Burnley Bus Company’s General Manager, Steve Ottley, says: “Dave and Emma were chosen by our own depot team from dozens of auditions on YouTube, Twitter and Facebook using the hashtag #MakeMyMainline.”
