Six months since introducing contactless payment on its fleets, the Oxford Bus Company and Thames Travel have reported strong growth in the number of passengers using the pay method.
A quarter of passengers travelling with the Oxford Bus Company and 20% of passengers on Thames Travel services now use contactless.
MD Phil Southall, hailed this as "great progress" for passengers and operators.
He says: "Passengers have embraced contactless payments, the figures are very encouraging and we fully expect to see this trend continue to grow as more people become comfortable with the system.
"Contactless is a convenient way for passengers to pay and we are now looking to phase in 'intelligent fare calculation' as the first of a number of developments in 2018, which will improve our service further and help make our city smarter."
