First Worcester has introduced contactless payment across its whole fleet, meaning customers can now pay for journeys using their debit and credit card, as well as Apple and Android Pay.
Cllr Alan Amos, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Highways, says: "I welcome the introduction of this new and more convenient alternative method for payment.
“Worcestershire County Council continues to work in partnership with Bus Operators to deliver new and innovative solutions to make bus services in the County more accessible."
Sarah East, Head of Operations for First Worcester, says: “We’re very proud to launch contactless payment technology on First Worcester’s buses.
“This is another major step forward in improving the journey experience for our customers and builds on our other innovations introduced, including mTickets and new journey planner app.
“The trend across the UK shows that more and more consumers are ditching cash for contactless, so this improvement, I’m sure, will be welcomed by local residents and visitors exploring the area.”
