The PickMeUp on-demand ride-sharing service has seen a “landmark” 30,000 journeys made using it since being launched by the Oxford Bus Company on 25 June.
More than 12,000 registered users have signed up to the app and completed journeys in the eastern Oxford area covered by the service, which operates 0600-2300hrs weekdays, 0830-1930hrs Saturdays and 0830-1900hrs on Sundays.
The service’s app enables passengers to request a minibus from their location choice and a vehicle will go to the nearest safe pick up point. Journeys are matched with others wanting to make similar trips to enable ride sharing. Six 17-seat ultra-low emission Euro 6 minibuses were bought by Oxford Bus Company to launch the service.
Phil Southall (pictured), Managing Director of the Oxford Bus Company, calls breaking the 30,000 journey mark “another fantastic landmark” for PickMeUp that had been delivered ahead of expectations.
“People have really taken to the service and it is continuing to grow.”
