The Oxford Bus Company celebrated the achievements of its staff at its ‘The Really Amazing Awards’ ceremony.
Staff scoped the coveted awards in eight categories, rewarding long service and exceptional performance by teams and individuals in the Oxford Bus Company and sister companies Thames Travel and Carousel.
Colleagues directly nominated the winners, bar the Long Service Award, from a shortlist of three in each category.
The Long Service Award celebrated a combined 235 years of service by nine stalwarts, Ron Friend was recognised for 35 years’ service and a further eight colleagues were rewarded for 25 years’ service.
Airline coach driver Geoff High was awarded Star of the Year, an award chosen from the Star of the Month awards from 2017. Steve Chadwick was awarded Customer Hero for consistently going above and beyond for customers. While Mark Adams of Thames Travel received the Unsung Hero award.
Valentina Tachy scooped the Rising Star accolade, for consistently pushing herself outside her comfort zone and learning new skills. Sam De Gouveia was awarded the Embracing Innovation award and Gary Merralls received the Health, Safety, Well-being gong. Carousel Engineering scooped The A Team award for excelling as a team across 2017.
