First UK Bus has partnered with Eclipse to invest in one diagnostic platform for use across all of its depots.
Following trials, reviews and a period of evaluation of all available diagnostic equipment, First established that selecting one generic platform would not only reduce costs, but would also improve efficiencies and vehicle availability.
It thus chose the Jaltest – Eclipse Testpad Extreme to cover all diagnostic requirements, allowing First’s engineers to benefit from a generic system complemented by dedicated technical support. That will increase familiarity and capability among engineers and it also cuts training requirements.
Says Engineering Director Ian Warr: “The trials that we conducted demonstrated the capability of the system, as well as the additional support provided.
“We are confident that through training, familiarity and the use of one diagnostic system, our engineers will maximise the use of Jaltest and progressively reduce the spend on third-party labour for assistance with diagnostics.”
Adds Eclipse Sales Director Richard Parkin: “The strong relationship that has been built during the last year, together with the work of our dedicated training team, has been a vital element in the successful roll-out.”
