I was interested to read Wayne Fatherley’s comments about the coach park at Leicester Forest [routeone/Letters/12 December].
Unfortunately, this is not uncommon, South Mimms Services was so full of HGVs last Monday that coaches could not enter the site.
The coach park at Thurrock is full every weeknight but the problem is not just overnight.
South Mimms is used as a staging post for recovery vehicles, they transfer cars throughout the day. The picture shows a truck transferring a load.
Foreign coaches use coach parks as a transfer point for passengers and parcels (and passengers think nothing of urinating there).
It is time for health and safety officers to get involved; in any other environment, vehicles transferring loads of safety equipment (reflective jackets, banks men etc.) would be a requirement.
It is without question that someone could be seriously injured in the near future.
Welcome Break, Moto and other site operators, it is time you act.
