In response to last week’s comment, I would like to mention the abhorrent situation at FlyDSA Arena (formerly Motorpoint Arena Sheffield).
Coach drivers are not allowed to access the site to use the toilets, let alone any of the other facilities while they are waiting for their passengers.
Staff say it’s because of security reasons and that drivers should go to the retail park across the road, which I think in this day and age is abominable.
Some coaches don’t have toilets on-board and it’s not fair to ask other drivers to use their facilities.
I know idling is frowned upon and I don’t like running vehicles all day, but to keep warm on cold days, what choice do we have than to keep the vehicle running when there are no other facilities to use?
If I am there for a long time I get on the tram and go to Meadowhall, but places like these should still offer toilet facilities for drivers as a bare minimum.
In this day and age it’s about time coach drivers are looked on differently.
