Operators’ help called for

Operators are being urged to take get involved in the shaping of the online operator licensing system as it moves towards the next step of digitisation.

This was the message from DVSA’s Steve Fox, as he presented an update to Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) members at a London and South East regional meeting in Hertfordshire.

“We are looking for operators to help test prototype enhancements to the system. We are really keen to get people to volunteer; you can help make the improvements.”

He stressed that improvements to the system come as a direct result of feedback given online.

Mr Fox told operators the enhancements will make their lives easier; for example reducing the amount of time from making an application to change or start an O-Licence, compared with the paper systems.

The gathering also heard updates from CPT officers on current issues, along with compliance advice from Eastern Traffic Commissioner Richard Turfitt, DVSA Area Manager Graham Owen and Laura Hadzik of Backhouse Jones solicitors.
