Transdev Blazefield will be the first operator in the North of England to trial Ticketer’s tap-on/tap-off contactless fare capping on its services.
The Harrogate-based firm has won £50,000 worth of funding from strategic transport body Transport for the North (TfN) to pilot the ground-breaking technology across bus routes in Yorkshire.
The first trials of contactless tap-on/tap-off ticketing are expected to begin on selected Transdev Blazefield routes across Yorkshire in February 2019.
Transdev Blazefield CEO, Alex Hornby, says: “We have a strong track record of innovation using up-to-date technology and this is yet another example of our determination to attract new customers and add further convenience to our valued existing users.”
The company already offers contactless payments on all its buses across Yorkshire, using the latest Ticketer ticket machines.
