TC9 continues to dominate, but TC12 still being delivered; top-spec HTC 12 remains on Pelican agenda
Yutong importer Pelican Bus and Coach has reported that 2017 is set to be another strong year for the Chinese marque, with over 50 orders received already and deliveries the total likely to finish at around the 85 mark.
“We took six orders last week and we have 16 coaches in the process of being PDI’d ready to enter service with 67-plate registrations in September,” says Sales Manager Bob Elliott.
Mr Elliott adds that five TC9 midicoaches are in stock at Pelican’s Castleford base that are available for delivery in September. More are on the way with capacities of between 32 and 37, and with or without toilets.
Of the next batch of TC9s, currently being shipped from China, one remains available, and a further nine will arrive towards the end of September. Of those, two are already accounted for. Five more are due in November.
“The TC9 continues to account for the most volume, but the TC12 remains of interest, and we have sold a number recently. There is more competition in the full-size sector, but we believe that the back-up that we offer is driving sales of both models,” he adds. “We are also seeing strong repeat business. In September three operators will each take two TC9s, and all are repeat buyers.”
The high-specification HTC 12 – a 12.2m two-axle coach powered by the DAF MX-11 engine that is aimed at the premium end of the market – remains on the agenda for Pelican, but it is reliant on the Department for Transport’s long hoped-for relaxation of the current weight limit for such PCVs.
