The IoTA is the professional membership body that encourages effi cient transport best practice and works worldwide. The title of Fellow is only awarded to people of special distinction who have given distinguished service to the industry and the institute over many years. David, who has been a member for more than 40 years, says: “It was a wonderful surprise and an absolute honour to be named as a Fellow. “Having worked in the coach industry over several decades I have seen many changes, not least with the evolution of technology. “Approaching the challenges and opportunities presented by each of them has always been exciting and I’m looking forward to what the coming years have in store.” David’s career in the industry spans over more than fi ve decades. He was instrumental in Lucketts’ move into the coach travel industry in the 1970s, and bought the fi rst coach in 1976 – Lucketts now has a fleet of 130 and 320 staff. Autoglass tackles peaks Seven colleagues at Autoglass completed the Three Peaks Challenge this summer for children’s charity Together for Short Lives. The team all gathered from across the UK to climb Ben Nevis, Mount Snowdon and Scafell Pike, successfully completing it in just under 39 hours – raising £3,808.63. Mark Alexander, National Operations Manager, says: “This was one of the toughest, yet most exhilarating challenges of my life. “Knowing the money will help improve the lives of terminally ill children throughout the UK is the best part of all.” 53 years of loyal service Jenny Harris, Aldershot travel shop administrator for Stagecoach, has retired after 53 years. Jenny joined the travel shop team with Aldershot & District in February 1964, then worked for Alder Valley in 1972 and with Stagecoach from 1992. Jenny held the title as longest service employee for Stagecoach across its Hampshire, Surrey and West Sussex. Jayson Smith, Operations Manager at Stagecoach’s Aldershot depot, says: “Jenny’s commitment to the company has been exceptional and her continued hard work and loyalty has contributed towards our success.” 9 AUGUST 2017 ROUTE…ONE.NET / 63
