First Bus has ordered 12 Alexander Dennis Enviro200EV next-generation battery-electric models and five smaller Enviro100EV examples for its operation in Bath.
They will be delivered in 2026 and are for use on city services. Part funding for the buses is from the Zero Emission Bus Regional Areas scheme and the work will also see supporting infrastructure placed at the depot.
The order is a first confirmed deal from First Bus for next-generation members of Alexander Dennis’s battery-electric line-up. The operator has an Enviro400EV double-decker from the same range on long-term evaluation.
Of the Bath buses, the Enviro200EV fleet will be 10.9m examples with 33 fixed seats and five tip-ups. The Enviro100EV order is for the standard 8.5m, 2.35m wide type. All will be powered by the Voith Electrical Drive System.
Speaking about the order, First Bus Wales and West Commercial Director Rob Pymm says: “We are really looking forward to welcoming these new electric buses to Bath.
“They will bring quiet, clean and comfortable journeys for our customers while helping to improve air quality and support the city’s sustainability ambitions. This investment marks another important step in our journey to a zero-emission fleet.”
Alexander Dennis National Account Manager Marie Connell adds: “We are grateful for the confidence placed in us with this first order from First Bus for our next-generation Alexander Dennis electric buses.
“It follows the successful and ongoing field trial of an Enviro400EV double-decker which is being tested by First Bus operating companies across the country.
“With the new Alexander Dennis electric buses, customers in Bath will enjoy a step change in their travel experience with smoother, quieter and cleaner journeys beginning next year.”
