Allison used IAA in Hanover to announce its new nine-speed automatic for the bus market. It will replace the existing 2000 Series six-speed and can handle up to 1,200Nm.
It is promised to offer “significant” fuel savings along with engine stop/start capability to “help manufacturers meet emission requirements.”
It also offers smooth shifting, even at full power.
Allison also announced an electric hybrid system with a pure-electric range—up to 15km – that it says is “ideal for zero-emission zones” and/or approaching, during and leaving bus stops with ‘engine-off’ capability.
