Volvo Buses has received its largest ever Norwegian order – with public transport company Tide Buss A S seeking 303 vehicles for its new bus operations in Tromso and the Bergen West region.
The order is for 290 Volvo 8900 intercity buses, 10 Volvo 9700 long-distance coaches and three minibuses, which are based on the Renault Master.
The Volvo 8900 vehicles, which are designed for intercity and commuter operations, will be delivered with low-entry floor in both two-and three-axle configurations and normal floor. They will also each have Zone Management, which uses GPS to create geographical speed zones and prevents equipped vehicles from exceeding the set speed.
Buses will be sold with a service contract involving Volvo taking care of all vehicle maintenance at a fixed monthly cost.
