Combination launched at 13.2m with 10-coach order for Logan’s of Dunloy. Luggage capacity is key with major increase over closest comparable B11R-based Elite, says Plaxton; accessible option also available
Plaxton has added the two-axle Volvo B8R chassis as an option for its flagship Elite body and says that such a combination increases luggage carrying capacity by 500kg over the closest comparable B11R-based Elite.
The development also marks the addition of a 13.2m, two-axle Elite to Plaxton’s range. 10 such coaches will join the fleet of Logan’s Executive Travel of Dunloy, Co Antrim for the 2019 season and one will be on show at the UK Coach Rally in Blackpool over the weekend of 6-7 April.
At 13.2m the Elite seats up to 53 passengers in what Plaxton describes as “comfortable recliners” and with a centre sunken toilet and a continental door.
The extended wheelbase that comes with the 13.2m coach, coupled to the lighter B8R chassis, allows maximum utilisation of underfloor luggage space. Compared to a 12.6m Elite on the B11R, carrying capacity is increased by 500kg, Plaxton says.
Available on the B8R-based Elite is a range of options including a PSVAR-compliant, entrance-mounted wheelchair lift and all-round destination display equipment.
The B8R is powered by Volvo’s 7.7-litre D8K engine that develops 350bhp, coupled to an I-Shift automated manual gearbox.
