Joe Wood, Commercial and Integration Director of CitySwifter, has died of a heart attack.
Described by his peers as one of the industry’s rising stars, Mr Wood began his career as a driver with Stagecoach London in 2012 before gaining experience of scheduling with both Stagecoach and Go-Ahead London.
He took a job in scheduling at Reading Buses in 2015, citing the commercial freedom of the deregulated provincial bus industry as a motivator. He quickly rose to the position of Network Planning Manager before moving to CitySwifter in January 2019.
Mr Wood was also active within the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and the Young Bus Managers Network (YBMN). He addressed the most recent YBMN conference in Manchester on 3 April.
Never shy about sharing his experience and knowledge, he was credited with working closely with work experience students during his time at Reading Buses.
