Reading Buses has raised £11,719.61 for Autism Berkshire, its charity of the year for 2018.
The sensational sum is the result of a series of fundraising activities throughout last year that included the bus operator’s Open Day in June which raised more than £9,000, and £1,200 from driver Darcey Harrington’s charity sky dive.
Other events included raffles, bake sales and general collections at all the company’s depots.
Speaking at a wrap-up event at the operator’s Great Knollys Street depot, Reading Buses’ Chief Executive Officer Robert Williams says: “I am delighted to be able to hand over a cheque for this phenomenal amount.
“We are one of the biggest and most visible employers in the town and like to support the focus of charities such as Autism Berkshire and recognise the good work that they do.
“Our employees love getting behind important local causes and have played a very important part in our fundraising activities.”
