Plaxton is holding its own coach rally on 8 August, to celebrate its heritage and showcase its historic and current products.
Held at its Scarborough factory, the ticket-only event will show 60 coaches – all of which will be Plaxton. They will be judged on vehicle exterior, vehicle interior, engine/chassis, and vehicle presentation.
Judging will take place between 1100-1500hrs, followed by a cavalcade on Marine Drive, and prizes will be given at an invite-only dinner at Scarborough Spa.
Of the 60, 35 coaches have already been entered. The deadline for rally entry is 28th June.
The event is being held to thank Plaxton customers, and to raise money for both Saint Catherine’s Hospice and the local RNLI lifeboat, named Frederick William Plaxton after the company’s founder. The news comes shortly after it was announced that Plaxton’s parent company ADL has been bought by the American NFI Group.
Richard Matthews, Retail Sales Director Bus & Coach, says: “We’ve been keen to put on an event like this for years and are delighted it’s now coming into fruition. We’re extremely proud of our British-built products and our flexible product offering and this rally is the perfect way to celebrate that.”
