Proventia gains retrofit certification for DAF PR

Bova Futura, Irizar i6 integral, Temsa Safari and VDL Futura 2 with PR engine are all accredited by CVRAS

VDL Futura 2 with DAF PR unit has been accredited to Euro 6 compliance

Proventia has achieved Clean Vehicle Retrofit Accreditation Scheme (CVRAS) certification for its NOxBuster City system to allow a number of coach models with the DAF PR engine at Euro 4 and Euro 5 OEM level to achieve Euro 6 compliance and thus be out of scope for daily charges to enter emission control zones.

The Finnish manufacturer is working with Mitcheldean-based Excalibre Technologies in the UK. Its retrofit equipment has been accredited as achieving Euro 6 compliance in the following coaches with the 9.2-litre PR265 engine:

  • Bova Futura at Euro 4
  • Irizar i6 integral at Euro 4 and Euro 5
  • Temsa Safari at Euro 4 and Euro 5
  • VDL Futura at Euro 4 and Euro 5.

“We are currently working to expand the approval to cover all DAF engines in coaches at all power ratings,” says Project Manager Jesse Salmi. It is understood that a retrofit kit for the 12.9-litre MX-13 will be developed next.

Proventia says that the NOxBuster City unit works well at low exhaust temperatures, avoiding ad-blue crystallisation. Monitoring of NOx emissions and the system’s overall performance is via ProCare Drive, which collects and logs data that is combined with location tracking.

The aftertreatment specialist has already achieved CVRAS accreditation for a variety of bus models and it dealt with the Euro 5 New Routemasters that were delivered to Transport for London.
