Drivers working for First Scotland East recently forfeited a surplus cash pay-out from union Unite, instead donating the 350 to East Lothian Foodbank, which provides emergency food for people in crisis..
Secretary of the Musselburgh and North Berwick branch Jimmy McKerracher says: “We have done a lot to help good causes in the past, but we’re keen to support more local charities. The foodbank was suggested by one of our drivers, and everyone agreed it was a worthy cause.â€
Adds James Bruce, Chairman of the foodbank: “It means a lot to us to have the support of First staff. The money has been a great help to our charity.â€
