Raising money for Help for Heroes and Marie Curie Cancer Care was the aim for more than 40 employees from First West of England’s Hengrove and Lawrence Hill depots and Marlborough Street bus station in Bristol when they rode 87 miles in more than 10 hours by bike from Bristol to Weymouth. .
Money was raised by sponsorship, collections and the sale of specially-designed T-shirts.
The event was organised by Martin Rogers, Traffic Controller at Lawrence Hill, who received an award during 2013 for his fundraising activities.
First’s management team contributed a 300 pot to cover food and drink on the journey, while bakers Greggs got into the spirit by donating cakes.
