Readers of routeONE are invited to take advantage of the chance to own a very special model, celebrating a very special event.
As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Bus Driver of the Year (BDoY) competition the organisers commissioned a commemorative model bus for each competitor in the 2016 finals held in Blackpool last month. Now a limited number of this die-cast replica is available to purchase by a competitive bidding process.
Made by the renowned Gilbow (Holdings) Ltd, and sporting a special BDoY livery, the1:76 scale precision model bus is based on Coventry Corporation Transport fleet number 99, the unique AEC RT-type that operated between 1950 and 1964.
The model reflects the fact that the first BDoY final was held in Coventry. It comes complete with a registration card detailing its history and links to the competition.
Around 20 of the 157 buses that were made are to be sold with the proceeds going to support the BDoY.
To place a bid send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the full name, address and the price you wish to pay for the bus.
