Five service vans used by Arriva Bus and Coach (ABC), which supplies and supports the Ilesbus range of mini and midicoaches, are being upgraded by Leeds-based auto engineering and vehicle safety specialist SM UK.
The fit out is complete on three of ABC’s vans so far. It has seen state of the art storage racking systems installed. The go with with high-tech workstations and new lighting systems that enable engineers to work on vehicles at times of low ambient light.
ABC Head of Aftersales and Operations Nigel Clarke says the work has improved the effectiveness of the dealership’s mobile technician team.
“The storage systems and technology that SM UK has installed have been a game changer. The entire product was created bespoke to us. It means that parts and equipment are easily accessible, do not get mixed up and are stored safely.”
ABC’s vans carry air-conditioning kit, which now has its own purpose-built secure carrier within the new storage system. “Perhaps most important is the boost the newly fitted-out vans have given to team morale,” adds Nigel.
