Laver Holidays to continue under Skills’ ownership

Nottingham coach operator Skills has purchased 75% of the shares in Loughborough-based Laver Holidays, which specialises in door-to-door British and Continental coach tours..

The deal, completed on4 April, will see the Laver Holidays brand and its Derby, Loughborough and Nottingham travel shops retained, says Skills MD Nigel Skill. “Laver Holidays has a loyal following that we want to grow. It also has a strong, family-oriented brand, and that is something we want to retain.”

All Laver Holidays’ employees will transfer over to Skills. The services of coach operators used by Laver will be retained, adds Mr Skill, but the new owner will also engage some of its own vehicles on Laver Holidays work.

“It’s a good, positive move and Tony Laver [pictured above] will continue as Managing Director,” he says. “For the last two years our own coach holiday business has seen encouraging growth, which will be further enhanced by the purchase of Laver Holidays.”

Laver Holidays was founded in 1991 by Tony and Jean Laver. Besides its coach tours it also offers cruises and holidays by air.
