A 9m fleet of more than 50 new buses has been unveiled by National Express West Midlands (NXWM) and PTE Centro in Sandwell, as part of their Partnership Plus deal to transform bus travel.
Signed in 2013, Partnership Plus sees a string of investments and innovations delivered by 2015 when it comes up for review.
It includes more than 300 new buses, new bus shelters, and the introduction of the Sprint Rapid Transit system between Birmingham and Quinton.
The latest buses, a mix of double- and single-deckers, will operate across the borough from the operator’s West Bromwich depot.
Says Centro Chairman Cllr John McNicholas: “It is yet another example of the very real benefits that Centro’s partnership with NXWM is bringing to bus users.â€
NXWM MD Peter Coates added: “The new midibuses will also help us to provide better bus services to housing estates.â€
Sandwell Borough Council leader Cllr Darren Cooper says: “It’s great news for Sandwell, especially as we’re getting the region’s biggest investment in new buses this year.â€
