Euro 6 is full steam ahead at Wrightbus, with the Ballymena manufacturer having passed the 200 mark for bodies mounted on such chassis.
The vast majority are built on Volvos, with the lion’s share of these on B5TLs and delivered to Dublin Bus or Translink. 25 long-wheelbase examples – so far the only produced – are also in the process of delivery to Lothian Buses, while Gemini 3-bodied B5LH Euro 6 hybrids have been supplied to Stagecoach London and Metroline. Wrightbus also plans to body Volvo’s B8RLE single-deck chassis in due course.
Euro 6 progress on its own chassis will see a major milestone soon, with the entry into service of the first StreetDeck.
Finished in Arriva Sapphire livery and destined for Derby, delivery is expected imminently and it will enter service on route 38 within a fortnight, says Arriva Midlands Communications Manager Keith Myatt.
The first Euro 6 StreetLite, for First Potteries, is expected in service early in the New Year, and Wrightbus has also delivered a number of Euro 6 New Routemasters to London.
