Worcestershire County Council’s Cabinet has agreed revised proposals for cuts to bus support, but it still means its two park-and-ride routes will be withdrawn.
It follows 8,500 responses to its countywide consultation. Currently, 80% of services in the county are operated commercially. .
The original proposal to save 3m by the total withdrawal of all support for buses has been replaced by a new package to save 1.6m.
From September there will be revised supported services, introduced by the agreement of operators to run a number of services or journeys commercially, potentially at higher fares and with an increased role for community transport schemes.
