First asks youngsters: Design bus of the future

First has asked youngsters to design the Bus of the Future

First in Worcestershire and Wythall Transport Museum have joined forces by challenging youngsters in the county to design what they think will be the bus of the future.

All submissions will be sealed in a time capsule and will not be opened until Easter 2066. Entrants are being challenged to think about how buses will evolve in the meantime, what they will be powered by, what they will be made from, and what they will be like inside.

Nigel Eggleton, Regional MD of First Midlands, says: “Fifty years ago, bus travel was not pleasant, with hard seats, smelly buses and exhaust fumes, not to mention how difficult they were to drive.

“Today our buses are more comfortable, more economical, more environmentally friendly, safer, and easier to drive.

“This is a fantastic initiative and we’re delighted to play our part.”
