Costs pushed up by 25%

In response to “chronic” traffic problems on the A4 corridor, and in Reading and Newbury, Reading Buses has added two extra buses to its Jet Black route, simply to maintain the same timetable.

It means there should always be a bus waiting at each end of the route to start on time – even if the inbound bus arrives late due to delays.

Reading Buses CEO James Freeman says: “This is an example of how we are incurring very significant extra costs of operation – a 25% increase – in order to maintain regular services.”
