Employee transport specialist Menzies Aviation has ordered six Scania Irizar i3 buses, to be delivered at the end of the year. .
They are the debut UK orders for the single-decker bus, on Scania’s KUB4x2 chassis with its DC09 111 250hp Euro 6 engine.
Menzies, an existing Scania customer, previously bought the now discontinued complete Scania product, the Polish-built OmniCity. Its replacement, the Scania Citywide is not being sold in right-hand drive markets, with the Irizar i3 offered instead.
Scania is also to launch the yet-to-be revealed Irizar i2 body on the same chassis.
This low-floor single-decker is expected to be a midibus, and a demonstrator – in London specification – is scheduled for delivery in October/November. Scania’s crrent double-decker uses an ADL Enviro400 body.
