Maynes places another Van Hool order

After its earlier 2014 order for four DAF Van Hool TX coaches, Maynes of Buckie, Aberdeen-shire, has ordered another two coaches, in a 550,000 investment.

The order, placed with Arriva Bus and Coach, is for Van Hool DAF TX16 coaches for the 2015 season.

Built to Maynes’ exacting executive specification, with 53 seats, full air-con, toilet, hot and cold drinks and an on-board entertainment system, they will also have on-board vacuum and coach wash facilities “to keep our high standards while out on the road,” says Director Kevin Mayne.

These coaches will blend into its touring and private hire fleet with a mixed workload throughout the UK and Europe. It already has seven Van Hool TX coaches.

It means Maynes will continue to keep its fleet age profile one of the youngest in the UK.

Adds Mr Mayne: “More fleet upgrades may be finalised in the coming months at Euro Bus Expo, that will see some additional coaches arriving with us for early 2015.”

The coach business, established by James Mayne in 1947, has expanded greatly over the years and now operates from depots in Buckie, Elgin and Orkney.
