Spate of fires destroys five buses


Four separate fires in four days have claimed five buses. .

During the early hours of Sunday (15 June), two 61-plate Stagecoach Scania/ADL Enviro400s parked at Paignton Bus Station were targeted in an arson attack and extensively damaged.

On Wednesday (11 June) – the day of the latest firefighter’s strike – an arson attack destroyed the top deck of a National Express West Midlands Trident ALX400 in Small Heath, Birmingham.

On the same day a Stagecoach London Trident ALX400, being transferred northwards, was destroyed after an engine bay fire on the M11.

Also on Wednesday, a Stagecoach Volvo Olympian was destroyed, also after an engine bay fire, while in service at Warwick University.
