No fanfare for final NRM

The Whisperer hears that the final New Routemaster is poised to enter service in London. The first entered service in February 2012 and all have been built by Wrightbus, for Transport for London (TfL). The 1,000th vehicle is part of a batch of 17 of the hybrids to go to London United to operate route 267 (Hammersmith-Fulwell). Unsurprisingly, it will slip quietly into traffic without fanfare, now that the project’s ‘sponsor’ Mayor Boris Johnson, has been replaced by rival Sadiq Khan.
