First Bus extends contract with GreenRoad

First Bus has renewed its contract with GreenRoad Technologies for an additional three-year term.

The operator has used the GreenRoad system since 2009 as the technology basis of its ‘DriveGreen’ initiative.

The solution gives drivers real-time feedback about their performance via green, amber and red LED indicators. The system’s safety scores, which are assigned to drivers according to their performance, serve as the basis for incentivising competitions and reward programs, as drivers attempt to “stay in the green” by avoiding risky behaviours, such as harsh braking.

Denise Harrison, Head of Safety at First Bus, says: “Our drivers have embraced this technology and as a result are providing customers with better, safer, journeys and reducing our carbon footprint.”
