Contactless payment for Plymouth Citybus

Go-Ahead owned Plymouth Citybus is the latest operator to start accepting contactless payment methods including bPay, Apple Pay, Android Pay, Visa and MasterCard.

Says MD Richard Stevens: “We find that a common reason people choose not to use the bus is that they don’t carry cash or are afraid they do not have the correct change.”

Plymouth Citybus is the only operator in Plymouth and the first in Devon to offer contactless as an on bus payment method.

It follows an extensive trial with new ticket machines, installed across the fleet in October.

Multiple tickets can be bought in one contactless transaction as long as the total amounts to £30 or less.

This means that tickets including dayrider, week and grouprider for example can all be purchased on board using contactless.
