Rotala has agreed to buy the Hotel Hoppa business from National Express for £2m.

The deal is due to conclude at the end of the month, and no later than 31 December.

It is the last vestige of National Express’ London bus business, the rest of which it sold to Abellio in 2009.

Hotel Hoppa is a network of nine bus routes connecting major hotels within a five miles radius of Heathrow, with Terminals 1-3 and 5, using 32 ADL E200 Darts.

It runs under contracts to the hotels and airlines. The deal includes the right to use the Hotel Hoppa name.

Rotala expects the deal to add £200,000 a year in pre-tax profit, from a £6m turnover, with EBITDA of £500,000.

No additional overheads are expected to be required as Hotel Hoppa will use spare capacity in existing Rotala depots on the southern side of Heathrow Airport.

Says Rotala: “The Directors believe that Hotel Hoppa will enable Rotala to strengthen significantly its operations in the Heathrow area.

“Many of the airline customers of the Hotel Hoppa business are already users of various airside and landside services provided to them by Rotala in and around the airport.”
