A driver with First Bus in Aberdeen is preparing to swap the steering wheel for timber frames, logs and sandbags when he competes at the Official Strongman Games in Arlington, Texas, on 20-23 November.
Kyle Scott will compete against around 40 competitors in the under-90km weight division, having finished fourth on his previous attempt.
The Northern Irishman holds the world record for his weight category for the atlas stone with 184kg and has won the Natural Ireland Strongman, Natural UK Strongman and Natural World Strongman under-80kg titles.
In between shifts for First Aberdeen, Mr Scott trains at his local Results Gym in Aberdeen.
He says: “It will be a tough field but as long as I can produce the performances that helped me win UK and world titles in the Natural Strongest Man, I believe I can do it.”
Mr Scott will contest six events, including the log press, sandbag steeplechase and timber frame carry.
He adds: “I’m used to walking away with silverware but this is another level and I have changed my mentality in the approach to these games to make sure I’m in the best shape all-round.”
He has been with the operator for a year after moving from his family home in Northern Ireland.
Linda Shields, Operations Director of First Bus in Scotland, says: “Kyle is a determined and focused person and we’re delighted to support him to achieve more fame in his sport.
“Everyone will be rooting for him and hoping he can bring back the trophy.”
