Passenger Lift Solutions (PLS) has introduced Storm Shield for outboard Access units in minibus applications to provide additional protection underneath the vehicle.
It has been developed around what PLS says is the real-world operating environments faced by accessible vehicles throughout the year. Storm Shield will help to reduce direct exposure of outboard lifts to harsh road conditions.
The product has been developed for use across a range of Access lift configurations, including those with externally-mounted powerpacks. It includes a core unit attached to the lift box, with additional shielding available depending on vehicle setup.
PLS adds that Storm Shield has been designed for straightforward installation, with no specialist tools required across new build and existing vehicle retrofit applications. From June, it becomes standard fit to relevant new Access lifts.
Speaking about the development, PLS Aftersales Director Morgan Clissett says: “Accessible vehicles operate year-round in a wide range of environments, so we are always looking at ways to further develop our products based on real-world customer experience.
“Storm Shield has been developed as a practical addition to the Access lift range, designed to provide additional protection against increasingly challenging road conditions including road spray, grit, debris, and standing water encountered during year-round operation.
“Storm Shield will be fitted as standard on relevant new PLS Access lifts, and will also be available as a retrofit option for operators looking to upgrade existing fleets.”
