Greg Clark, the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, has welcomed contactless payments for bus tickets being introduced by Arriva on its Tunbridge Wells area services.

The Tunbridge Wells MP was issued with the very first ticket paid for with the new contactless technology at the official launch on 16 November. All Arriva passengers in Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and Sevenoaks can now buy their tickets using the system, which is provided by Ticketer ETMs and allows bus users to pay in varied ways, including debit and credit cards and Apple and Android Pay from their devices.

“Making bus travel more convenient for passengers is really important so it’s great that Arriva is introducing contactless ticketing in its vehicles,” says Mr Clark.
