Newport Transport has been testing the capabilities of a zero-emission bus as the first operator in Wales to trial the Yutong E12 full electric vehicle.

The single-decker bus, has been operating for the past month on routes 15 and 16, between Bettws and Newport city centre.

Morgan Stevens, Newport Transport’s Operations Director, says the electric bus trial received “significant” customer feedback with passengers commenting on how smooth, quiet and comfortable the vehicle was to travel on, while drivers reported how easy it was to drive.

Ian Downie, Pelican’s Head of Yutong Bus, says: “The feedback from Newport has been invaluable. Our demonstrator has travelled over 50,000kms, and provides fully zero-emission performance with fast, DC overnight charging.”
